TSA MOCA Announcement
The Texas Society of Anesthesiologists has registered with The American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) to report Lifelong Learning and Self-Assessment (LL-SA) data to the ABA. Please review the following to learn more about this process.
The ABA has launched the Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology (MOCA®) program in which all ABA diplomates may participate. As part of the MOCA program requirements, ABA diplomates are required to report LL-SA activities they complete as part of their MOCA program. LL-SA includes Category 1 CME activities from sponsors accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), as well as non-Category 1 activities, such as institution-based learning, committee memberships, and self-directed study.
The ABA will only accept information on participation in LL-SA activities from the TSA for activities that the TSA was the primary sponsor.
The ABA will NOT accept information for you from the TSA for participation in activities sponsored by another organization.
At this time the only eligible activity sponsored by the TSA is the 2007 TSA Annual Meeting. If you attended and would like your hours reported to the ABA please respond to this email with your full name and eight-digit ABA identification number.
In order to accurately report your activity, the TSA will need your eight-digit ABA ID number. Every ABA diplomate, candidate and resident is assigned an eight-digit ABA ID number, for example, 3456-7890. To obtain an ABA ID visit the ABA web site at www.theABA.org and first create a personal portal account. The ABA ID number is sent via email to you for future reference. The ABA also has started issuing ID cards that include the ABA ID number.
